UAE: A four-year-old boy falls from the 20th floor in Sharjah

A young boy, just four years old, tragically died after falling from a building in Budanig, Sharjah. The boy climbed out of his room and plummeted from the twentieth floor of a building in the Al Qasimia region since no one in his family observed him.

Upon receiving a report at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, the police operations room was alerted to the incident. According to the report, a young child had fallen out of the window of an apartment on the twentieth floor of a building where an Asian family resided, immediately killing them on impact.

The commander in chief of Sharjah Police, Major General Saif Al Zari Alshamsi, provided details of the response, stating that law enforcement swiftly arrived at the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered the child lying on his stomach, having succumbed to the injuries sustained from the fall. Parts of the child's body were scattered on the ground, underscoring the severity of the accident. The scene was thoroughly examined, and evidence was collected before the body of the deceased child was transported.

Al Shamsi recounted that, according to the child's mother, her son fell from the apartment window while she was in the kitchen, unaware of the unfolding tragedy. As a result of this neglect, a report was filed against the family for gross negligence. The negligence was attributed to the family's failure to supervise the child adequately and for placing his bed in an unsafe location within the room.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a poignant reminder of the paramount importance of child safety. Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Chief of Sharjah Police, emphasized the critical need for constant vigilance over children, especially in high-rise buildings. He urged families to adhere strictly to safety protocols, including the close monitoring of children and the implementation of measures to prevent falls, such as keeping windows securely closed or installing safety guards.

However, this tragic event underscores the devastating consequences of parental neglect and the imperative for families to prioritize the safety and well-being of their children at all times.
