Abu Dhabi Slaughterhouse Timings for Eid Al-Adha

As Eid al-Adha approaches, the Abu Dhabi Municipality has announced the operating hours of slaughterhouses across the emirate. The facilities will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily throughout the week to accommodate the surge in demand during the festive period.

The slaughterhouses across the emirate will remain open for eleven and a half hours each day to cater to the heightened demand during the celebratory period.

Capacity Expansion and Workforce Reinforcement

In anticipation of Eid al-Adha, Abu Dhabi City Municipality has bolstered the capacity of its slaughterhouses to accommodate approximately 37,000 sacrifices and carcasses. The municipality has implemented measures to strengthen its personnel force by increasing the quantity of butchers, maintenance staff, and individuals tasked with the distribution of meat and sacrifices at every abattoir.

In addition to expanding capacity and manpower, the municipality has enhanced the outdoor facilities of the slaughterhouses with air-conditioned tents and shaded pathways. Chilled drinking water has also been provided to accommodate the increasing number of visitors, with special consideration given to individuals with disabilities and elderly visitors frequenting the slaughterhouses.

The Abu Dhabi Automated Slaughterhouse, located in the Zayed Port region, has been designated by the Abu Dhabi City Municipality to process sacrifices that are requested through smart apps and by the Red Crescent. At the same time, public sacrifices will be received and prepared in the Bani Yas Slaughterhouse and the Al Wathba Automated Slaughterhouse. Furthermore, the Al Shahama Automated Slaughterhouse is tasked with handling sacrifices requested by both smart applications and the general public.

Moreover, the municipality has augmented the number of butchers in all slaughterhouses to meet the increased demand. Each slaughterhouse has specialized veterinary medical staff responsible for examining animals prior to slaughter and conducting thorough inspections post-slaughter to ensure the meat's suitability for human consumption.

To facilitate the public's sacrifice requests, the municipality has provided several smartphone applications, including "Zabehaty," "Zabayeh Al Jazeera," "Dhabayeh UAE," and "Halal Mazarana." These applications enable users to select the type, category, weight, cutting preferences, and delivery location of their desired sacrifices.

It is important to note that Law No. 2 of 2012, which addresses the maintenance of the general appearance, health, and public tranquility in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, prohibits the public from killing sacrifices outside of authorized slaughterhouses. The Abu Dhabi City Municipality is urging the people to stop this practice. In order to discourage illegal activity, the Inspection Directorate has assigned teams to each of the municipality's sub-centers with the responsibility of receiving allegations of infractions, investigating them, and then fining those responsible.
