UAE Announces Extended paid parking hours during Ramadan in Sharjah

Asma Ahmed - | UAE

The government of Sharjah has introduced adjustments to operating hours across various services to accommodate the observance of Ramadan.

These changes aim to ensure convenience and accessibility for residents while taking into account the unique requirements of the holy month. Among the modified schedules are those pertaining to essential services and public facilities, including parking and public parks.

One significant change affects paid parking hours during the weekdays. From Saturday to Thursday, paid parking will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m., extending the operating hours compared to non-Ramadan periods. This adjustment provides greater flexibility for residents who may require parking facilities for extended periods during the cooler evenings, allowing for outdoor activities or relaxation after Iftar.

Additionally, the parking regulations specify that Fridays will be designated as free parking days, offering a reprieve from parking fees for residents and visitors. However, it's important to note that certain areas designated as blue zones will maintain paid parking throughout the week, including public holidays, ensuring efficient management of parking spaces in high-demand areas.

Public parks in Sharjah will also experience changes in their operating hours during Ramadan. These recreational spaces will be open every day of the week from 4 p.m. until midnight, providing opportunities for residents to engage in outdoor activities and leisure pursuits during the evenings. The extension of park opening hours aligns with the spirit of Ramadan, facilitating community gatherings and promoting physical well-being through outdoor exercise and relaxation.

Furthermore, adjustments have been made to the operating hours of the government veterinary clinic in the Jubail area. The clinic will be operational from Saturday to Thursday, offering its services from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This ensures that pet owners have access to essential veterinary care for their animals while accommodating the altered schedules during Ramadan.

These adjustments to operating hours reflect the government's commitment to meeting the needs of residents during Ramadan while promoting community well-being and convenience. By extending parking hours, opening parks in the evenings, and maintaining essential services, Sharjah aims to create a supportive environment for its residents to observe the holy month with ease and comfort.
