UAE: RAK imposes Up to Dh20,000 penalty for Releasing Seized Vehicles

Starting from March 1, motorists in Ras Al Khaimah will face stiffer penalties for certain road violations, according to the latest announcement by RAK Police.

The Ras Al Khaimah Police recently announced forthcoming changes to penalties for road violations, effective from March 1. These alterations aim to reinforce compliance with traffic regulations and enhance road safety across the emirate.

Among the revised penalties, motorists engaged in prohibited activities such as unauthorized marches or parades violating traffic laws will face vehicle impoundment for durations ranging from 15 to 20 days. To expedite the release of impounded vehicles, offenders will be required to pay fines ranging from Dh1,000 to Dh10,000, depending on the severity of the violation.

Moreover, drivers caught operating vehicles without license plates or with counterfeit registration numbers will be subject to a prolonged vehicle impoundment period of 120 days. To secure an early release, individuals must pay a penalty fee of Dh20,000. Similarly, individuals found to have made unauthorized modifications to their vehicles to enhance speed or increase noise levels will face vehicle seizure for a duration of 60 days. Those seeking to regain possession of their vehicles will need to pay a fine of Dh5,000.

The new directives also extend to addressing issues related to abandoned vehicle parts, which pose safety hazards when left in undesignated areas such as public or private roads. Additionally, regulations have been introduced to govern the sale of vehicles in unauthorized locations and to establish guidelines for vehicles involved in transporting water.

These measures reflect the authorities' commitment to ensuring road safety and orderliness throughout Ras Al Khaimah. By imposing stricter penalties for various traffic infractions, the aim is to discourage reckless behavior and encourage greater adherence to traffic laws among motorists. Furthermore, the regulations aim to address not only violations pertaining to vehicle operation but also concerns related to the proper disposal of vehicle parts and the conduct of commercial activities involving vehicles.

Ultimately, the implementation of these enhanced penalties is expected to contribute to a safer and more regulated road environment in Ras Al Khaimah. It emphasizes the importance of responsible driving and the adherence to traffic regulations as essential elements for fostering road safety and community well-being in the emirate.
