An important warning from "Abu Dhabi Police" to all drivers

Abdallah Shahin - | Arab News

Colonel Abdullah Yousef Al Suwaidi, Acting Director of the External Areas Traffic Department at Abu Dhabi Police, warned that driving while tired increases the risk of death and serious injuries.

In particular, during the holy month of Ramadan, he urged drivers to get enough sleep before driving and leave enough space between them and other vehicles. He also mentioned recent campaigns in labor cities that the Traffic and Patrols Directorate had launched to raise public awareness of the importance of adhering to traffic laws and regulations and the legal speed limits.

Al Suwaidi emphasized the significance of wearing the safety belt completely, concentrating on the road while driving, abstaining from running red lights, using side signals when changing lanes, maintaining a sufficient safety distance between vehicles, and giving pedestrian crossings priority.

He explained that the campaign involved showing and distributing films and booklets about digital awareness, as well as giving talks to workers, drivers, and other

Pedestrians should be given priority when crossing the street safely at the places designated for that purpose, and automobiles should slow down in residential neighborhoods and other places where people are congregating.

Since the beginning of the holy month, Abu Dhabi Police has launched awareness campaigns about the unfavorable conditions that are observed on the roads during Ramadan, emphasizing the significance of increasing traffic awareness to adhere to the traffic law and regulations and rules, reducing the causes that result in traffic accidents and the resulting deaths and serious injuries, and establishing the importance of respecting traffic rules and refraining from unfavorable behavior.

To improve traffic safety for drivers and other road users during the holy month of Ramadan, the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of the Abu Dhabi Police established field traffic awareness points in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

She also cautioned against fasting for drivers because it might cause low blood sugar, which impairs attention, focus, and vision. She further stressed the significance of drivers' attentiveness and good reactions while operating a vehicle.

The directorate also cautioned that using a phone while driving to browse the Internet and social networking sites, make calls, take pictures, or otherwise be preoccupied with something other than the road can cause a sudden deviation of the vehicle, which can have serious consequences and result in traffic accidents.

Enhance traffic safety:

To improve traffic safety for drivers and other road users during the holy month of Ramadan, the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols at the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police launched a field traffic awareness campaign in the labor cities in the Musaffah region, the labor city in Mafraq and Al Salam City in Hamim.
