UAE Issues Red Alert as Hazardous Weather Intensifies Countrywide

The National Centre for Meteorology of the UAE released a red alert in multiple regions.

On Tuesday, the National Centre of Meteorology warned that the weather over the United Arab Emirates was getting worse, issuing a red alert in many places. Residents should remain extremely vigilant in anticipation of extremely dangerous weather occurrences.

The meteorological authority has specifically identified areas most susceptible to severe weather, employing a color-coded alert system to communicate the level of caution required. Regions marked with an orange alert necessitate heightened awareness, while those under a yellow alert may experience relatively milder conditions.

Tuesday dawned with incessant thunder and lightning, accompanied by heavy rainfall, presenting a disruptive start for residents across the UAE. This tumultuous weather pattern is expected to persist from Monday through Wednesday, attributed to the extension of a low surface pressure system and the passage of two successive waves of unstable weather across the country, as announced by the National Centre of Meteorology.

In response to the deteriorating weather conditions, government employees across the UAE have been instructed to work remotely on Wednesday. This directive aims to ensure the safety and well-being of employees amidst the challenging weather circumstances prevailing across the nation. Additionally, Dubai has extended the remote work arrangement for both government employees and private school students in light of the escalating instability in weather conditions. Private sector entities have similarly been advised to facilitate remote work for their employees.

In Sharjah, federal employees have also been directed to work from home on Wednesday, aligning with the precautionary measures implemented to mitigate risks associated with the adverse weather conditions. In the education sector, both public and private schools in the emirates have transitioned to online learning platforms, ensuring continuity in education while prioritizing the safety of students and staff members amidst the prevailing weather challenges.
