Jobs UAE: working-in-home here to stay? thousands of open positions, and we've outlined most important ones here

MoMansour - | Arab News

Employers now that Covid's limits have been relaxed are more insistent on workers returning to the office, while the majority of locals still favour a hybrid work style.

Numerous job openings in the UAE and the Gulf are advertised on various job portals and channels for job seekers, despite a reduction in job advertising for remote or work-from-home positions.

According to data, there are many popular vocations that may be done from home, including call centre representatives, marketing specialists, sales executives, business development managers, and financial officers.

Employers and managers are putting more and more pressure on workers to come back to work as a result of the relaxation of regulations in the post-Covid era. However, the majority of workers want a hybrid work model. They frequently leave corporations that don't provide this option and join more adaptable ones.

The absence of remote employment opportunities is one of the top ten reasons why professionals in the UAE are considering changing jobs, according to research performed by LinkedIn this year.

According to LinkedIn, the percentage of remote job posts in the UAE is 4.3% as of February 2023, down significantly from January (22.8%) and from the same month the previous year (nearly 50%).

Around 1,500 work-from-home employment are available on Bayt.com, with over 600 of them in the GCC and more than 300 in the UAE. The numbers are subject to change every day.

According to Najat Abdelhadi, head of communications and career specialist for LinkedIn Mena, "the percentage of remote job postings has been declining in the UAE as managers call their teams back into the office in the face of the prevailing uncertainty to prove higher business revenues."

She recommended companies to carefully evaluate what their workforce wants, which includes flexibility, if they want to keep their finest employees, who will help them stay on top and navigate the rapidly changing business landscape.

jobs that one may do from home

The website offers a wide variety of work-from-home opportunities for job seekers in the United Arab Emirates, according to Ola Haddad, director of human resources at Bayt.com. Employers are actively looking for individuals for a range of positions. Call centre representative, marketing specialist, sales executive, business development manager, and finance officer are a few of the jobs that are most frequently advertised.

Technology, information, and media are the top five industries in the UAE with the largest percentage of remote job posts, followed by professional services, wholesale, consumer services, and, intriguingly, oil, gas, and mining, according to LinkedIn's Najat report.

"In order to match their quickly changing tactics, recruiters are searching for candidates with the appropriate capabilities. A university degree or a few years of work experience are no longer sufficient qualifications. According to Najat Abdelhadi, in order to differentiate yourself from the competition, you must possess the abilities that will increase business productivity and growth.

"Skills have really grown to be so important that, on average, between 2015 and 2022 in the UAE, the required skills across sectors changed by 27%. The rate of change has also quickened as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic that is reshaping the labour market. Therefore, job searchers must keep up with the most recent skills required for their positions, said Abdelhadi.
