Citizenship and Immigration Canada has announced a new immigration pathway for families affected by the ongoing war in Sudan.
The Canadian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (IRCC) explained that as of February 27, 2024, the ministry will accept up to 3,250 applications from individual applicants or families.
Granting successful applicants permanent residency
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Canada aims that this new family sponsorship pathway will grant successful applicants PR Canadian permanent residence.
The Ministry explained that it will provide free settlement services to individuals who successfully obtain permanent residency in Canada through this path, and confirmed that it will also address the right to permanent residency.
Conditions for qualifying for permanent residency in Canada for Sudanese
1- He must have lived in Sudan on April 15, 2023.
2- That he does not have another country to return to via Sudan or Canada.
3- It must be a child, grandchild, sibling, grandchild or grandparent of the sponsor who helps support the migration.
4- A legal declaration must be submitted from the sponsor to support any family member.
5- Plans to live in a province or territory other than Quebec.
6- It must not be acceptable for reasons other than financial reasons.
Sponsor conditions in Canada to bring Sudanese
- He must be 18 years or older.
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Live in Canada and not in the province of Quebec.
- Proof of sufficient income to meet financial requirements.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Immigration and Citizenship in Canada requires that the sponsor not be subject to a deportation order in Canada. It also stipulates that the sponsor must not be legally obligated to pay the immigration loan payment, performance guarantee, or any other amount required to be paid to the Canadian government.
It also requires that he not receive any social assistance for any reason other than disability, or that he must not have been convicted of committing a criminal offense included in public policy.
