The US Department of Citizenship and Immigration has decided to introduce new rules that will increase the application fees for applying for distinguished status for eligible forms and categories, given that these fees have not been changed or increased for three years.
Citizenship Services and the US agencies explained that the premium fee for Form I-907 will be increased for all eligible categories, and it will also be applied to all forms.
Processing qualified forms quickly
It is worth noting that this form, which is called (I-907), is used to request processing of qualified forms in a rapid manner called premium processing or faster processing.
The eligible forms and categories permitted under Form I-907 also include the Request for Privileged Processing Form, Form I-129, Form I-140, Form I-765, and Form I-539.
Implementation date for this new increase
The new price hike is set to take effect on February 26, 2024. If USCIS receives a Form I-907 postmarked on or after February 26, 2024 with the erroneous filing fee, it will reject it and return the registration fees.
It is also likely that costs may be paid to obtain this service. If you seek premium processing, USCIS assures that it will take judicial action on the case within the time frames specified below, or that it will refund the premium processing fee:
- 15 calendar days for most ratings.
- 30 for Form I-765 for F-1 students seeking OPT or STEM OPT extension.
- and 30 for Form I-539 applicants seeking F-1, F-2, M-1, M-2, J-1, or J-2 nonimmigrant status.
- 45 calendar days for Form I-140 E13 Multinational Executive and Director.
- and E21 National Interest Waiver Classifications.
