Britain: Traffic chaos and possible travel disruption as snow continues for the rest of the week

Ahmed Moawad - | World

The British government has issued urgent warnings across the country due to the chaos, with schools closed and travel potentially disrupted.

The possibility of travel interruption in Britain due to bad weather

Many British citizens in many places, including Liverpool, were surprised by the heavy snowfall, with a huge, thick layer of snow forming this morning in some towns and cities in the United Kingdom.

Temperatures also dropped to 3 degrees Celsius below zero, and the British government issued warnings throughout the country about the possibility of travel interruptions during the recent period, coinciding with the continuation of bad weather throughout the country.

Problems in roads and railways due to snowfall

The government indicated that many roads and railways in Britain are facing major problems and disruption due to heavy snowfall, in addition to major problems due to icy temperatures.

According to UK Met Office forecasts, Britons are expected to face snow and ice across the country for the rest of the week due to "cold Arctic air". It moves across the country.

Possibility of travel delays in Britain

In a related context, the British Meteorological Office warned of the possibility of travel delays, power outages, and the possibility of injuries resulting from falls, with power outages in some rural communities.

So far, Liverpool has been pounded by a massive downpour, prompting Merseyrail to activate its cold weather contingency plan to safeguard the lines against ice buildup. This comes as temperatures fall to -3 degrees Celsius in the early hours of the morning.

Bad weather continues in Britain until the end of the week

Beginning on Monday and continuing through Thursday, the Met Office has repeatedly issued yellow weather warnings for snow and ice. Northern Ireland, the North West, and Scotland are among the places hit hard.

Sleet and snow will sweep across northern areas today, with heavy snow likely for some time, especially in parts of Scotland, according to a meteorologist from the Met Office. It will be a very chilly day everywhere, but drier with sunny periods elsewhere.
