The Canadian government announced the imposition of huge fines against pro-Palestine demonstrators, who are demanding the need to stop the bombing by Israeli army forces on civilians and the destruction of their homes.
The police in Canada's capital, Ottawa, decided to impose fines of $4,000 on pro-Palestinian demonstrators, in accordance with the city's noise law.
Fines against pro-Palestine protesters in Canada
Financial fines were imposed against pro-Palestine demonstrators under Regulation 255-2017.
The regulation prohibits the use of sound reproduction devices on major roads, in accordance with the noise law imposed by Canadian law.
Canadian Member of Parliament fined
A fine was also imposed on Canadian Member of Parliament, Joel Harden, who was also fined during the recent protests last Saturday, due to the use of a small loudspeaker.
Harden explained through his account on the social networking site
He added that he used a very small loudspeaker, in order to defend the rights of Palestinian citizens, due to the unjustified bombing of homes by the Israeli army, causing the deaths of thousands of women, children and defenseless citizens, adding that he paid a fine amounting to 490 Canadian dollars.
It is worth noting that pro-Palestine demonstrators gathered last Saturday, the twelfth weekend in downtown Ottawa, since the start of the war on Gaza, and thousands of supporters of Palestine gathered, demanding the necessity of an immediate ceasefire.
It is noteworthy that demonstrators who support Palestine have come out since the beginning of the war in many main streets and squares, amid a heavy police presence in the center of the city.
Peaceful demonstrations continued in Toronto, the largest city in Canada, in addition to relatively small-scale demonstrations in Mississauga, Milton, and many other Canadian cities in support of Palestine, and demanding the necessity of stopping the daily Israeli massacres against the Palestinian people.
Demonstrations in front of the Canadian Parliament building in Ottawa
Thousands of demonstrators also came out in front of the Canadian Parliament building in Ottawa, waving Palestinian flags and calling on the international community to pressure Israel and its supporters for a permanent ceasefire in the Israeli war on Gaza.
It is worth noting that Israel is launching an air, artillery, and naval bombardment, in addition to a ground attack in Gaza, which resulted in the killing of thousands, most of them women and children. The Israeli army also suffered heavy losses as a result of the ground attack it carried out in some places in the Gaza Strip and Khan Yunis.
