Canada warns against driving during this time due to heavy snowfall

The Ministry of Environment Canada issued an urgent warning to all travelers through the Canadian city of Greater Toronto due to heavy snowfall, affecting reduced visibility.

Heavy snowfall in Toronto

According to what the Canadian Meteorological Center announced, a large amount of snow is expected to hit the city of Toronto this week, and it is also expected to continue during this month.

Forecasts announced by Environment Canada indicate that residents should prepare for heavy snowfall, which will begin around 11 a.m. and end at about 7 p.m.

Snow density reaches 15 cm

Forecasts issued by Environment Canada also indicate that 5 to 7 cm is expected to fall in Toronto and the western edge of the Greater Toronto Area, with the possibility of snow reaching 15 cm in areas to the north and east.

The National Meteorological Agency advised in a statement late Wednesday that traveling under these adverse weather conditions is risky due to sudden changes in weather.

The Ministry asked travelers to consider postponing non-essential travel during this month until the weather conditions that Canada is witnessing during this month improve.

Bad weather hits several areas in Canada

It is worth noting that poor weather is still affecting many sections of Canada, particularly the province of Nova Scotia, which was paralyzed by snow that reached a height of one meter in just two days.

It is also worth noting that at the start of this month, snow paralyzed the transportation network and caused power shortages, as well as forcing numerous businesses, schools, institutions, and retailers to lock their doors, prompting authorities to call in the army.

Record amounts of snow fell

Meteorologist Bob Robichaud, for his part, stated that record amounts of snow fell over the weekend, describing the storm as "historic."

The expert stated, "More than a meter of snow fell in some areas," referring specifically to the area surrounding Cape Breton Island in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, where a state of emergency has been issued.
