The judiciary reported that Iran executed four people on Monday morning after convicting them of working with Israel to sabotage an Iranian defense facility.
The four defendants, Mohammad Faramarzi, Mohsen Mazloum, Wafa Azarbar, and Pejman Fatehi, were arrested in July 2022, accused of plotting an operation against a Ministry of Defense center in the central province of Isfahan, according to the judiciary's Mizan Online website.
Mizan Online reported that the execution of the death sentence for four individuals belonging to a group associated with the Zionist intelligence organization, who were arrested for planning a bombing operation in Isfahan, was implemented this morning.
Iran claims that the people were enlisted "about a year and a half before the operation" by the Israeli spy agency Mossad. It is said that they were dispatched to African nations to participate in "training courses in the military centers," accompanied by Mossad officials.
The individuals received death sentences in September 2023. In August of the same year, Iran asserted that it had thwarted a Mossad-led project, described as "very complex," aimed at "sabotaging" its ballistic missile industry. Additionally, a few months prior, in February, Tehran accused Israel of orchestrating a drone attack on a military facility in Isfahan.
The longstanding shadow war between Iran and Israel involves accusations and counter-accusations, with Iran regularly blaming Israel and its ally, the United States, of inciting unrest in the region.
This execution further underscores the tense and adversarial relationship between Iran and Israel. The geopolitical rivalry between the two nations has been marked by covert activities, cyberattacks, and accusations of interference in each other's internal affairs.
Iran's consistent portrayal of Mossad's involvement in various incidents reflects the ongoing hostility between the two countries, contributing to broader regional tensions. The execution of these individuals highlights the severity with which Iran treats allegations of collaboration with perceived adversaries, emphasizing its commitment to safeguarding national security.
