Emirates Suspends Check-ins in Dubai Till Midnight Amidst Bad Weather

Asma Ahmed - | UAE

Emirates, the renowned airline based in Dubai, has announced a temporary halt in passenger check-ins at Dubai International Airport (DXB) due to adverse weather conditions and road challenges.

Starting from 8:00 a.m. today until midnight, passengers departing from DXB will be affected by this suspension.

Emirates expects delays in both departures and arrivals, but will continue to process passengers already in transit or arriving in Dubai. The airline advises affected customers to stay informed about the latest flight schedules and updates.

The decision comes amidst the aftermath of the UAE experiencing the heaviest rainfall in 75 years, resulting in widespread flooding and disruptions in various sectors, including air travel. On Tuesday, DXB witnessed numerous flight cancellations due to the inclement weather conditions, affecting both inbound and outbound flights.

Emirates, expressing regret for the inconvenience caused, assures passengers of their commitment to restoring normal operations as swiftly as possible. The airline pledges to provide extensive support to affected customers throughout this period.

Both the public and private sectors have implemented precautionary measures in response to the red, yellow, and orange weather alerts issued by the National Centre for Meteorology throughout the UAE, which advise for extreme vigilance. Private sector employers are encouraged to adopt remote working arrangements, which have been adopted by all government entities in Dubai. In order to assure the safety of both students and faculty, private institutions have implemented remote learning services.

The disruptions in air travel and the broader impact of adverse weather conditions highlight the importance of proactive measures to safeguard public safety and ensure the smooth functioning of essential services. Emirates and other stakeholders are actively working to mitigate the impact of these challenges and restore normalcy as swiftly as possible.
