The UAE issues a new clarification regarding reducing working hours during Ramadan

ahmed atef - | UAE

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization has confirmed that the decision to reduce working hours in the private sector during Ramadan includes its employees, both Muslims and non-Muslims.

The ministry has emphasized the equality and attention to all segments of society. This decision comes after the ministry had previously announced that it would reduce the normal working hours of employees in the private sector by two hours per day during Ramadan.

The goal of this decision

The goal of this decision is to strike a balance between religious obligations and the welfare of workers.

Daily working hours

Within the confines of the daily working hours that are set during the days of Ramadan, the ministry said that private sector enterprises have the ability to implement flexible working patterns or operate remotely, depending on the nature of their work and the interests of their employees.

It was emphasized by her that this decision is a result of the execution of the executive regulation of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 on the organization of Labor Relations and its amendments.

It is important to stress that the reduction of working hours in the private sector during the holy month of Ramadan is accomplished within the context of assisting workers and providing proper conditions for the performance of religious rituals and festivities that are typical of this holy month. The purpose of the resolution is to strike a balance between religious and practical commitments, as well as to encourage a culture of collaboration and tolerance within the working community.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has demonstrated its dedication to providing care for all of its citizens by reducing the number of working hours during the holy month of Ramadan. Without taking into account disparities in race, religion, this policy demonstrates discrimination in a favorable way toward all individuals.

Mutual respect and cooperation

It is consistent with human values that foster mutual respect and collaboration, and the United Arab Emirates is committed to the development of legislation and rules that protect the rights and freedoms of all people. The United Arab Emirates is a pioneer in the promotion of diversity and tolerance, and its initiative is consistent with these principles.
