The officials in the Capital have put out a fire that started in a residential building in Abu Dhabi. Residents were removed from the building for their safety by teams from the Abu Dhabi Police and Civil Defence Authority.
The fire that started on Wednesday (July 5) evening in a flat in a residential building near the Abu Dhabi Corniche was effectively put out, according to a statement on Abu Dhabi Police's social media.
The fire did not cause any casualties because of the authorities' quick response, and cooling measures are now being carried out on the scene. The public has been asked by Abu Dhabi Police and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority to only obtain information from authorised sources.
The Abu Dhabi Police have previously issued warnings about "rubbernecking" at accident scenes and have threatened to penalise locals for obstructing rescue vehicles' access to the scene. People who congregate near accident scenes impede traffic. They also prevent emergency vehicles from arriving, which is essential for saving lives.
In order for ambulances and civil defence vehicles to quickly reach accident sites and rescue the injured, police emphasised the importance of clearing the way for them to do so. As some cars stop at accident scenes, rubbernecking frequently results in additional collisions by disrupting traffic flow.
