Residence in the United Arab Emirates has become a goal for many who wish to tourism, work, or even move and live in the country. The government in the United Arab Emirates provides great facilities to residents who wish to receive their families and keep them with them, but there are many requirements for obtaining a family visa for residents. In the Emirates, including the necessity of the resident’s residence visa being valid.

You can sponsor your family members immediately after obtaining a work visa in the UAE, but it must be noted that there are requirements provided by the UAE that you need to fulfill in order to become eligible to sponsor your family members in the UAE.

Requirements for obtaining a family residence visa for residents of the UAE

1- Residents of the Emirates can sponsor their families for residency if they have a valid residence or work visa.

2- The salary must be between 3,000 and 4,000 UAE dirhams, regardless of the type of profession.

3- If the children are over 18 years old, they are required to undergo and pass physical fitness tests, since a residence visa is not given to people suffering from diseases such as tuberculosis.

4- The resident sponsor is given a maximum of 60 days to obtain a residence visa for the family after they enter the Emirates according to the entry permit, while in the case of children born in the Emirates, they can apply for a family residence visa in the Emirates within 120 days of their birth.

5- Relevant official documents are presented as justification for sponsoring one or both parents in the Emirates.

6- Residency is granted annually upon parental sponsorship, regardless of the duration of the visa, in addition to salary requirements according to the Immigration Department in the UAE.

7- The resident cannot sponsor his daughter if she is married.

8- Residents of the UAE can sponsor their child until they reach the age of 25, and if the son is a person of determination, he can be sponsored with a family residency visa without restrictions regarding age.

9- The conditions for sponsoring children and family residents in the Emirates vary according to each emirate, as these conditions differ according to each immigration department for each emirate. For example, the resident must pay a deposit for each child, and their residence visa in the Emirates is valid for one year, subject to renewal.

Documents required to sponsor the wife and children in the UAE

1- Print the application form to sponsor a wife and children, whether through a printing office or online.

2- Copies of the passport of the wife and children.

3- Personal photos of the wife and children with a white background.

4- Medical clearance certificate for the wife and children over 18 years old.

5- A salary certificate from the employer of the resident in the Emirates, in addition to a copy of the employment contract with the sponsor or with the company.

Conditions for bringing a wife to The UAE

  • Personal photos with a white background of the wife and children.
  • Passport and sponsored persons, whether wife or children.
  • Residence visa application document, which you can obtain either online or through licensed printing offices in the UAE.
  • Health fitness certificate for the wife and children (original certificate).
  • A copy of the marriage contract.
  • The resident’s residence document must be valid.
  • Salary Certificate.
  • Housing rental contract.
  • Latest electricity and water bill.

The resident brings the parents to the UAE

A foreign guardian in the UAE can also sponsor his parents for a period of one year, renewable, with the need to pay insurance as a guarantee for each of them, according to what is determined by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security.

However, it is required that the parents are not divorced, given that it is not possible to provide residency for one of them and leave the other, and anyone who wants to obtain a residence visa for his parents must provide proof of their need for support and care, which requires their residency in the UAE.

A mother’s sponsorship for her children

The UAE government also clarified the cases of a mother’s sponsorship for her children according to what was reported by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, and in the event that the resident wishes to convert his family’s sponsorship from a temporary resident permit to a residence visa.

Complete all procedures related to adjusting the status from a temporary entry permit to a residence visa within a period of 60 days from the date of entry into the United Arab Emirates.
