The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security in the United Arab Emirates announced steps to exempt citizens and residents of the UAE from the fine for delaying the UAE digital ID.
The authority explained that it has identified 3 steps to submit a request for exemption from paying fines for the Emirates ID card, which is considered mandatory for all residents of the UAE, whether residents or citizens.
Request for exemption from paying Emirates ID card fines
1- Submit a request to issue or renew an identity card through smart channels.
2- The customer will be shown the fees due on the Emirates ID card, including the late fees incurred.
3- If the customer is among the categories that are exempted from paying late fines, he applies for the service, attaches the required documents, follows up on the application, obtains the result of the application with approval or rejection, and then completes the application with the ID card.
Categories exempted from fines for delaying the Emirates ID card
- An individual who left the country more than three months ago and whose ID card expired after leaving the country.
- An individual whose identity card has expired after his deportation by order, administrative decision, or judicial ruling, or whose passport has been seized pending lawsuits, provided that this is proven by a letter or receipt issued by the competent authorities that deported him or detained him pending lawsuits.
- An individual who has not been issued an identity card for the period before he obtained the citizenship of the country and before obtaining the family book.
The ID card must be renewed within 30 days of its expiration
The authority called on citizens and residents to renew the ID card issued by the UAE within 30 days of its expiration.
If it is not renewed, a late fine will be imposed, and the Authority will send a notification via text message to customers before the card expires.
It is noteworthy that the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security has requested an application to obtain an ID card from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, and to renew it upon its expiration.
The ID card can be applied for through the smart service and the Authority’s website, or through the approved printing centers in the country. It is necessary
