On Sunday, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) made public the reasons behind the closure of certain roadways.
According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), a number of roads in Dubai, including those in the Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah regions, will be closed beginning in the early hours of Sunday and continuing until one o'clock in the afternoon in order to make room for the staging of the Dubai Marathon.
Dubai Marathon start date
The Dubai Marathon will begin at six in the morning and continue until one in the afternoon. The officials have not yet disclosed all of the specifics on the road closures; however, the roadways that will be impacted include sections of Umm Suqeim Street, Jumeirah Beach Road, and Al Wasl Road.
RTA highlighted runners competing in the 2024 edition of the first and oldest international marathon in the Middle East by tweeting a video of the marathon route map. The marathon is the World's oldest international marathon. In addition to taking in Jumeirah Beach Road and passing under the shadow of the famed Burj Al Arab and Madinat properties, it will begin and end on the Umm Suqeim Road, which is located adjacent to the Dubai Police Academy. The whole distance of 42.195 kilometers will be complete.
In addition to the professional marathon, there will also be expert and amateur runners competing in the 10 kilometer category. Additionally, there will be a fun run for novices and hobbyists to participate in, which is 4 kilometers in length.
Because it is sanctioned by the Dubai Sports Council, the 2024 Dubai Marathon will attract a significant number of athletes from around the world, including emerging stars, debutants, and elite athletes from around the world. Since the course is generally flat, it is anticipated that both elite and regular runners will complete it in a short amount of time.
