The Dubai Criminal Court ruled to imprison two Asian residents in the United Arab Emirates for a period of 6 months, due to the detention of one of the other residents in a workers’ residence due to a financial dispute with one of them.
The Dubai Criminal Court decided to sentence one of the residents in absentia to a period of 6 months, expelling them from the country after completing the prison sentence.
Two Asians kidnapped a person of the same nationality as them
It is worth noting that the facts of the case date back to July of last year, when two Asians kidnapped a person of the same nationality and detained him inside the workers’ housing in the Al Mamzar area in Dubai.
During the investigation, the victim stated that he was astonished by the two offenders obstructing his path when he was walking with two of his buddies in the Al Mamzar area. They assaulted him and pushed him into a vehicle driven by one of them before fleeing the scene with his two buddies.
They detained him in a workers’ residence for 6 hours
The victim gave his testimony during the investigation carried out by the UAE Public Prosecution, where he explained that the defendants detained him in a workers’ residence for 6 hours, and one of them asked for a sum of money to leave him.
He told them that he didn't have what they were looking for right now, so he asked for the original passport to ensure that he got the money.
The victim went on to say that he asked the accused to call one of his buddies and have them hand over his passport, and one of them consented and went to collect it, so he was detained, confessed to his crime, and told the police where he was being held.
The accused confessed
The accused admitted to participating in the kidnapping of the victim with another person following a financial dispute between them, as he took over the management of a delivery company owned by the victim for a period of three months during the latter's travel, and upon his return, he refused to pay him compensation for his work, so the court found him guilty and ruled in its aforementioned ruling.
According to a police officer, he received a report from an Asian stating that his friend was being held by people who assaulted him and took him to an unknown location, and that he contacted him to ask him to give one of the accused his passport, so an investigation team arrested the accused after planning an ambush in the informant's home.
