Regarding identity fines, the United Arab Emirates has issued a decision.

To submit an application for an exemption from the payment of late fines related to the Emirates ID card, the federal authority for identity, citizenship, Customs, and port security has established three procedures, which are as follows: first, the applicant must satisfy the following requirements:

Applying for the issuance or renewal of an identity card through smart channels, showing the customer the fees that are due on the Emirates ID card, including the delay fees, and thirdly, if the customer is one of the categories that are exempt from paying late fines, applying for the service, attaching the required documents, following up on the application and getting the result of the application approved or rejected, and then finishing the application with the ID card: these are the steps that are required.

Exemption from late fines

According to the governing body, three categories of individuals are granted an exemption from late fines associated with UAE ID cards: those who have departed the country for a period exceeding three months and whose validity period has lapsed since their departure; those whose ID cards have expired subsequent to their deportation due to an administrative order, decision, or judicial ruling; or those whose passports are pending legal proceedings, with the condition that the aforementioned conditions are met.

Obtaining an Emirates ID card

An Emirates ID card is required to be obtained by all inhabitants of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), including Emirati citizens, citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and expatriates living in the country.

Individuals who fall into any of these categories are obligated to submit an application to the federal authority in charge of identity, citizenship, Customs and port security in order to obtain an identification card, and they must also renew their card when it expires.

Request to obtain an ID card

In the United Arab Emirates, the application for the identification card can be submitted through the smart service and the website of the authority, or through the approved printing outlets.

consumers will receive a reminder by text message from the authority before the card expires, and the authority will emphasize the importance of renewing the identity card issued by the UAE within thirty days of its expiration. If the card is not renewed, a delay fine will be applied, and the authority will send a notification to consumers.

They are able to identify the person and prove their identity, whether in direct transactions or through electronic networks and digital means, easily and in accordance with the best international standards. It is important to note that the identification card is required for all citizens and residents on the territory of the country, including newborns. This is something that should be mentioned.
