The United Arab Emirates is issuing work visas to Indians and Pakistanis again after banning them.
It is noteworthy that citizens from India, Pakistan and a number of other countries were unable to obtain their work visa, especially after the implementation of the new demographic diversity requirements.
Message of achieving demographic diversity during recruitment
Many employers have complained that when applications for visas and work permits for citizens from South Asian countries, India and Pakistan, a message appears demanding demographic diversity.
The message asks employers in the UAE to ensure the diversity of the 20% of available quotas, with a message stating the necessity of achieving demographic diversity during recruitment.
Process visas and clear backlog
According to the information we have received, all visas have already been processed and the backlog for obtaining work permits has been cleared.
But what is not certain is that the reason behind the suspension of the issuance of work permits is unknown, whether the restrictions have been lifted, or whether relief will be granted on a case-by-case basis.
Businesses can now apply for work visas
According to confirmations from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in the UAE, companies can currently apply for work visas regardless of nationality.
Stressing that the recent decisions are generally related to the demographic diversity of establishments and not to a specific percentage, whether of skilled or unskilled workers, and to prevent overcrowding of companies of any particular nationality.
