The UAE and Armenia have agreed on a visa-free regime for citizens of both countries.
Vahan Kostanyan, Armenia's deputy foreign minister, declared this on X (formerly known as Twitter).
"FM Ararat Mirzoyan's official visit to the UAE was marked with a signing ceremony to lift the visa regime for citizens of Armenia and the UAE," Kostanyan added.
Ararat Mirzoyan, Armenia's Foreign Minister, visited the UAE earlier this week and met with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, where they discussed opportunities for cooperation in the economic, investment, development, tourism, and educational sectors.
According to the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UAE citizens do not need a visa to visit the Caucasian country, which is just over a three-hour flight from Dubai International Airport. However, according to the Armenian Foreign Ministry website, Armenian nationals still need visas to enter the UAE.
VisitDubai.com, Dubai's official tourism website, also stated on Saturday that Armenian nationals needed a visa before visiting Dubai.
Expatriates
Among the expatriate populations, Indian people living and working in the UAE with a valid UAE visa or Emirates ID can gain access. Similarly, nationals of the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Egypt who live and work in the UAE must present a UAE visa or Emirates ID at the border in order to enter the country.
Armenia's neighbours countries, Georgia and Azerbaijan, are popular tourism destinations among UAE residents, with hundreds of tourists flying there each month. Visa-free entrance for UAE nationals and several other expat nations will increase tourism and trade between the two countries. Local airlines, such as flydubai, fly to the Armenian city of Yerevan and provide unique specials on this route.
Armenia exempts nationals from 45 countries, including the UAE, from requiring a visa to enter the country. This is true for citizens with any form of passport. They are allowed to stay in the Republic of Armenia for up to 180 days per year.
