The Canadian government announced the start of the actual implementation of the new temporary residency pathway, which aims to help Canadian citizens and permanent residents in Gaza to seek temporary safe haven in Canada.
The new temporary residency program has been activated in Canada, as this federal program allows people from the Palestine sector besieged by Israeli forces and the severe and continuous bombing of residential neighborhoods in Azza, from joining their family members in Canada.
Immediately after the announcement of this decision, many families across Canada applied for a limited number of special visas to save their loved ones from the current war between Israel and Hamas, especially with the increasing suffering of Palestinian citizens from bombing by Israeli aircraft.
Family visa in Canada for people in Gaza
It is worth noting that the Canadian government launched the extended family visa for people in Gaza, according to what Mark Miller, Canadian Minister of Immigration, revealed in December of last year 2023.
Demands from Canadians to the federal government increased to provide asylum for their loved ones in Palestine, and accordingly the government decided to clarify the measures enacted by the Canadian government to support the extended family of Canadians in the region.
The maximum limit is only 1000 places
The Canadian government clarified that the maximum limit is only 1,000 places, and the Canadian Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Department confirmed that they must be able to exit Gaza, in addition to the necessity of passing the vital standard requirements.
It is worth noting that the immigration and refugee lawyer in Kalghazi, Jatin Shourie, said that the temporary visa program that Ottawa offers to Palestinians trapped in the current conflict is indeed worthy of praise.
It is also stated that this decision includes family members of Canadian citizens and public relations as follows:
- Spouses and common-law partners.
- Children and grandchildren.
- Brothers.
- Parents and grandparents.
