Allowing heavy vehicles to use the second right lane
The company's agencies in Abu Dhabi announced the use of the second right lane to overtake heavy vehicles.
The company clarified that this lane is for overtaking only for heavy vehicles, on Khalifa bin Zayed International Road, from Baynunah Bridge to ICAD Bridge in both directions.
Abu Dhabi Police said in its statement published today and reported by many newspapers and news agencies in the UAE, that these decisions will be implemented as of next Monday, January 29, 2024.
The necessity of adhering to the instructions
Abu Dhabi Police called on drivers of heavy vehicles to adhere to the instructions followed on the roads, while requiring them to stay in the right lane of Ghala Road for the purpose of overtaking only.
Explaining that in the event of overtaking, the driver must check the side mirrors to ensure that there are no blind spots before overtaking, with the necessity of using traffic lights early.
Raising traffic safety levels
Through these new decisions, the police in Abu Dhabi aim to raise the levels of traffic safety in the country.

The police explained that all roads in the UAE will be monitored through smart systems, in addition to traffic patrols.
