The Indian Embassy in the UAE warns Indian passengers urgently

Ahmed Moawad - | UAE

Passengers who are traveling to or passing through Dubai International Airport were sent an urgent warning by the Indian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates, which advised them to temporarily postpone their flights.

The Indian Embassy explained that its warning was a result of the turmoil resulting from the unprecedented weather conditions witnessed by the UAE, which caused damage to many cars and buildings, in addition to the cancellation of some flights to and from the UAE.

The Indian Embassy said in an official statement that “due to the turmoil caused by the weather conditions that the UAE witnessed earlier, Dubai International Airport has temporarily restricted the number of incoming flights.”

As of the morning of Thursday, more than 1,240 flights had been canceled and 41 planes had been rerouted at Dubai Airport as a result of runway flooding that occurred as a result of the persistent rain that occurred on Tuesday.

Additionally, Emirates Airlines has made the decision to halt the check-in process for all of its customers throughout its network who are going on connecting flights through Dubai until 11:59 p.m. on Friday.

Customers who have flights departing from Dubai will only be admitted at their departure point if their flight departs after 23:59 GMT on April 19, according to a statement that was posted on the website of Emirates Airlines.

Passengers who are already in Dubai and are experiencing transit will be allowed to board their planes. Clients who are heading to Dubai as their final destination are able to check in and continue their journey as usual. Customers should be prepared for delays in both departures and arrivals, and they are strongly encouraged to check the most recent flight status online, as informed by the airline.

The Indian embassy emphasized that the situation is "unprecedented," despite the fact that the authorities in the United Arab Emirates are working around the clock to ensure that everyday activities return to normal.

The authorities at the airport have indicated that passengers are not permitted to travel to the airport until they have received final confirmation from the airlines that are involved about the date and time of departure of the flights that are in question.

"Arriving Indian passengers traveling to or transiting through Dubai International Airport are advised to reschedule non-essential travel until operations return to normal," the embassy said in a statement. The intention of the statement was to encourage Indian tourists to reschedule their travel plans that were not essential.

The emergency helpline lines have been live since Wednesday, and the Consulate General of India in Dubai has activated them in order to provide assistance to Indian people who are seeking assistance at Dubai Airport. Helpline lines that are available around the clock are as follows: +971501205172, +971569950590, +971507347676, and +971585754213.
