The UAE announces new conditions for issuing a family residency visa

The UAE's Digital Government has confirmed that an expat's employment status is no longer a determining factor in whether or not he can get a residence visa for his family.

Foreign nationals living in the UAE are able to get a residence visa for their family members, allowing them to live and visit with them for as long as their visas are valid.

Requirements that must be met

it made note of the requirements that the resident head of the family must fulfill, including housing and a minimum wage of AED 4,000 or AED 3,000 per month.

Every family member above the age of eighteen must have a medical fitness assessment, mandated by the state, performed at one of the state's authorized health clinics.

Possibility of parental care

it mentioned that a resident can sponsor his parents, provided that a residence visa is granted annually regardless of the sponsor's duration of stay, and that a mother can sponsor her children in certain situations determined by the federal authority for identity, citizenship, Customs, and port security.

it made the point that a resident has a maximum of 60 days from the date of admission to complete the processes for changing the status if he wants to move his family sponsorship from the status of a temporary entry permit to a residence visa.

Certificate of health fitness for residency

The speaker cautioned that individuals who are medically unfit cannot be granted a residence permit. Regarding the tuberculosis examination, she stated that if the tests for residence renewal reveal the presence of inactive or old tuberculosis, the individual is deemed fit for health as long as they follow up with the Department of Preventive Medicine and receive a certificate of Health Fitness for residence that states "subject to treatment." After that, the individual's residence visa is only valid for a year.

it noted that the terms and conditions of residence visas are subject to change, and that people should check the most recent requirements by contacting the General Directorate of residency and Foreigners Affairs or the federal authority for identity, citizenship, Customs, and port security.

According to her, there are several government facilities for physical fitness tests, such as Emirates Health Services Corporation's medical testing for residency visas, Abu Dhabi's residency medical testing and examination centers, and Dubai's health fitness testing centers.

it mentioned that you can apply for an entry permit or residence permit through a number of electronic channels, such as the Dubai Now application on Google Play or Apple Store, the federal authority for identity, citizenship, customs, and port security application, the General Directorate of residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai website, and smart channels for residence and citizenship (E-channels).

Implementing an updated visa system

It is noteworthy to mention that, as of October 2022, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has begun to implement an updated visa system that, when combined with the conditions, controls, streamlined procedures, and amenities that make the nation an oasis for living, working, innovation, and investment, represents a qualitative leap in the field of foreign entry and residence at the regional and international levels.

In addition to lowering burdens and streamlining procedures, adding new benefits for residents, and separating residency and employer, the updated visa system is characterized by the variety of stay types and the addition of new types to suit all categories of investors, entrepreneurs, talented scientists and specialists, early students and graduates, humanitarian pioneers, the first line of defense, and skilled labor in all fields. All of these factors help to improve the quality of life and make living, working, and investing in the UAE a pleasant and happy experience.
