The United Arab Emirates has issued a decree pertaining to certain foreign workers employed within the country.
You can now get a power of attorney without leaving the comfort of your own home if you are a Pakistani expat living and working in the United Arab Emirates. Expats from the South Asian nation are now able to obtain a digital power of attorney, which eliminates the need for them to visit Pakistan's embassy. The process has been simplified, making it possible for them to do so.
The possibility of expatriates managing legal affairs in a way
This innovation, which was implemented by Pakistan's National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), makes it possible for expats to manage legal affairs in a manner that is both more accessible and more efficient, without the need for them to physically visit the authorities directly.
Pakistanis make up the second largest group of foreign workers in the United Arab Emirates, with over 1.7 million of them now residing there. All of the more than 8 million Pakistanis who are now living outside of the country are serviced by Nadra.
Request for a power of attorney
Through the Nadra website, Pakistanis living in the United Arab Emirates can submit an application for a power of attorney. A power of attorney is emailed to the applicant on behalf of the applicant, and the video interviews are conducted online. The applicant is responsible for providing the email.
Depending on the applicant's place of residence, the relevant sections and officials of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai or the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi will conduct video interviews with the applicant.
"Nadra provides a method that is both quick and safe for people to provide power of attorney remotely. It is not necessary to visit the embassy," the authority stated.
"I am quite grateful that the government of Pakistan has made this service available online since it will not only make my life simpler but will also conserve the time that I would have spent traveling to the mission. I would like to use it to transfer ownership of a vehicle here in the United Arab Emirates," said SA Rehman, who has lived in the UAE for a very long period.
Not only that, but Pakistanis who are currently residing in the United Arab Emirates are able to submit their applications for passport renewal online, thus they are not necessary to physically visit the missions.
Following the conclusion of the procedure, the applicant will receive the letter certifying their power of attorney.
