Urgent: The UAE announces new conditions for the family residence visa

The UAE Digital Government has stated that expatriates no longer need to have a specific profession or job to get residence visas for their families. Foreigners living in the UAE can now secure residence visas for their family members as long as they hold valid residencies in the country.

According to her, the resident head of the family must meet specific requirements, including a minimum monthly salary of 4,000 dirhams or a salary of 3,000 UAE dirhams, as well as housing.

All individuals who are part of a family and have reached the age of 18 are obligated to undertake a medical fitness assessment as mandated by the state. This examination is administered at one of the authorized healthcare facilities within the state.

The speaker cautioned that under specific circumstances as determined by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, a mother has the option to sponsor her children. Additionally, it is noted that a resident has the ability to sponsor their parents, as long as they possess an annual residence visa, irrespective of the duration of their stay.

The individual highlighted that in order to transition their family's sponsorship from a temporary entrance permit status to a residence visa, a resident must successfully undergo the status adjustment processes within a specified timeframe of 60 days from the date of entry into the nation.

In addition, she cautioned that individuals who are not medically fit will not be granted a residence permit. She specifically mentioned that if testing for pulmonary tuberculosis reveals the presence of old or inactive TB during residency renewal tests, the person will be deemed medically fit. However, this condition must be followed up on by the Preventive Medicine Department and accompanied by a health fitness certificate for residence that states "subject to treatment."Furthermore, the person will only be granted a one-year residence visa. It is advised that the aforementioned tests be conducted in the country where the individual intends to reside and prior to their arrival.

The speaker highlighted that the terms and conditions pertaining to residence visas are subject to periodic modifications. To obtain the most up-to-date information regarding the necessary procedures, individuals may reach out to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, or the General Administration of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.

According to her statement, there are several government centers dedicated to conducting physical fitness examinations. These centers include residency medical examination and examination centers in Abu Dhabi, health fitness examination centers in Dubai, and medical examinations for residency permits administered by Emirates Health Services Corporation.

The speaker highlighted the existence of various electronic platforms available for the submission of applications to acquire entry permits or residence permits. These platforms encompass smart channels for residency and citizenship (E-channels), the official website of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs - Dubai, and the application process of the Federal Identity Authority. The Dubai application, which pertains to citizenship, customs, and port security, may now be accessed through the Google Store or Apple Store.

The UAE has recently introduced an updated visa system starting in October 2022. This system brings about a significant change in the way foreigners enter and reside in the country, both regionally and globally. The updated system includes improved conditions, controls, simplified procedures, and facilities, making the UAE an attractive destination for living, working, innovation, and investment.

The revised visa system exhibits a diverse range of residency options and incorporates additional categories to cater to various groups such as investors, entrepreneurs, talented scholars, specialists, top students, graduates, pioneers of humanitarian work, the first line of defense, and skilled workers across all sectors. Furthermore, it aims to alleviate burdens, streamline procedures, provide additional benefits to residency holders, and establish a clear distinction between residency and employer. These measures are intended to enhance the overall quality of life and foster a positive and satisfactory experience for individuals residing, working, and investing in the United Arab Emirates.
