The Events Insurance Committee in Dubai Emirate has declared the preparedness of the plan to ensure the New Year's celebrations in 2024. They have also devised a novel mechanism to secure the celebration sites. This involves dividing Dubai Emirate into four sectors: north, central, west, and maritime. The aim is to streamline the insurance process and offer high-quality services to the public. Efficient utilization of human resources, in collaboration with partners.
The committee, in collaboration with the Permanent Committee for Labor Affairs in Dubai, allocated specific locations for workers in various areas. These sites were equipped with six viewing screens and provided meals. The purpose was to enable the workers to easily watch the fireworks and minimize their need to leave the event areas. This arrangement aimed to ensure that everyone could enjoy the celebrations in a secure environment.
The committee stated that there are fireworks displays taking place in 32 locations in Dubai, with the most prominent ones being the Burj Khalifa area, The Beach and Bluewaters (GBR), The Palm Island, and Kite Beach. They also mentioned that a total of 11,972 personnel have been assigned to ensure the safety of the celebrations in Dubai, including 5,574 policemen, 1,525 patrols, civil defense vehicles, and ambulances.
The aforementioned information was disclosed during a press conference convened at Bluewaters - Conference Hall yesterday. The purpose of the meeting was to unveil the specifics of the security, organizational, and service measures intended to ensure the safety of New Year's activities in the various parts of the emirate.
Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, the Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Operations Affairs and Chairman of the Events Security Committee, commended the committee members for their collaborative efforts. The committee comprises 55 entities from different government and private departments and institutions. They have worked together as a unified team to ensure the highest levels of security and safety for the attendees.
According to him, the committee has finished its preparations for New Year's Day by conducting multiple coordination meetings and conducting inspection field tours at various celebration sites. The purpose of these activities was to develop a comprehensive security plan tailored to each specialty, with the aim of ensuring the safety of tourist areas, commercial centers, and traffic during the New Year's festivities.
Al Ghaithi stated that the committee considered the significance of enhancing the insurance system in the emirate, in collaboration with partners. This involves establishing a new approach that involves dividing the emirate into four sectors: the northern sector, comprising eight celebration sites; the central sector, comprising fifteen sites; and the western sector, comprising fourteen sites. Furthermore, to streamline the insurance procedure, we have collaborated with partners to establish seven mobile operating rooms strategically located across the emirate.
Al Ghaithi urged individuals to collaborate with law enforcement officers, strictly follow traffic regulations, avoid overcrowding, and promptly contact Dubai Police through the toll-free numbers 999 and 901 for emergency incidents and complaints. Alternatively, individuals can approach the nearest police personnel for assistance. Additionally, Al Ghaithi emphasized the establishment of several supply tents in downtown Dubai to offer essential services. Primarily catering to the needs of the general public, our services include managing lost and found things, offering first aid assistance, providing logistical support, receiving and assisting missing children, offering guidance to tourists, and various other forms of aid.
Abdullah Al Ali, Executive Director of the Traffic and Roads Agency at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority and Chairman of the Traffic and Transport Systems Management Committee, stated that the Authority is diligently preparing to handle the traffic during the New Year's event, particularly in the Burj Khalifa area, by implementing a well-structured traffic plan. In collaboration with the Executive Committee for Securing International and Local Events in Dubai and Emaar Company, the Committee for Managing Traffic and Transportation Systems during Events operates.
