Dubai government announces free parking for Eid Al Fitr holidays, From April 8

Asma Ahmed - | UAE

For the duration of the Eid al-Fitr holidays, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has made specific preparations for both public transit and parking.

Public parking is free of charge from 29 Ramadan to 3 Shawwal, with the exception of multi-level parking terminals.

This means motorists can enjoy extended periods of free parking starting on April 7, with tariffs resuming on Shawwal 4. The specific dates for free parking are dependent on the sighting of the crescent moon, which marks the end of Ramadan.

If the moon is sighted on Monday, April 8, Eid al-Fitr will commence on April 9, with free parking until April 11. However, if the moon is not sighted, Eid al-Fitr will be observed on April 10, extending the free parking period until April 12.

In addition to parking arrangements, the Dubai Metro will operate on extended hours during Eid al-Fitr. Both the red and green lines will run from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. the following day on Saturday, April 6, and from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Sunday, April 7. Throughout the rest of the week, from April 8 to April 13, the Metro will operate from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m., with reduced hours on Sunday, April 14, from 8 a.m. to midnight. The Dubai Tram will operate from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday to Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Sunday, April 14.

Commuters are encouraged to check the S'hail App for updates about the RTA's announcement regarding changes to the running hours of public and intercity buses. The RTA app will also provide information on the new working hours for marine transport providers including Abra, Dubai Ferry, and water taxis.

Service centers will be closed during Eid al-Fitr, with vehicle testing services available only on Ramadan 29 and Shawwal 3. However, Customer Happiness Centers will remain operational 24/7, except for the holidays, with select kiosks and smart customer centers open as usual. These measures aim to facilitate smooth transportation and parking experiences for residents and visitors during the festive period.
