Abu Dhabi Airports, which operates five airports in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, today announced its exceptional results for passenger traffic in the first quarter of 2024, which showed that the number of passengers through the five airports during the period between January and March 2024 exceeded 6.9 million passengers, reflecting A significant increase of 35.6% in passenger traffic compared to the same period in 2023, during which 5.1 million passengers completed travel procedures.

The first quarter of 2024 witnessed a remarkable growth in air traffic, supported by an increase in global demand for passenger and commercial services, as 61,737 air movements were recorded, an increase of 11.4% compared to the same period in 2023.

During the first three months of the year 2024, Zayed International Airport received more than 6.8 million passengers, who enjoyed the distinguished facilities and services in the new building that was recently opened, which contributed to consolidating the airport’s position as a leading travel destination, due to the significant increase of 26.6% in Air traffic and 36.0% passenger traffic.

It is worth noting that Zayed International Airport took the initiative, in the first quarter of 2024, to expand its base of airlines by resuming the operation of Turkmen Airlines flights, and launching Hainan Airlines, which connects Abu Dhabi with the Chinese city of Haikou, bringing the total number of airlines operating regular flights through it to 29. a company.

London maintained its position as a favorite destination for travelers through Abu Dhabi Airports, with nearly 290,000 passengers traveling to and from the English capital, while the five favorite destinations also included Mumbai, Kochi, Delhi and Doha.

These numbers reflect Zayed International Airport's position as the preferred travel destination for travelers from regional and international destinations.

This distinguished performance is the best evidence of the role of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in promoting global trade, driven by the increase in shipments of general goods and specialized products, including express delivery services, shipping goods, temperature-controlled products, and medicines.
